This website is run by the Freight House volunteer team. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, that means you should be able to:

• change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
• zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
• navigate the whole website using just a keyboard
• navigate the whole website using speech recognition software
• listen to the whole website using a screen reader

We have also made the text as simple as possible to understand, and we do not rely on colour alone to convey information.

How accessible this website is

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. TODO: after testing with a screen reader and axe, list any parts that do not meet the standard here, honestly.

Known limitations:

• The interactive map is a third-party component. A text address, a static image and a link to OpenStreetMap are provided as alternatives.
• Placeholder images are in use until real photographs are available. Their alt text says so.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

Every change to the website is checked automatically with the axe accessibility engine before it is published, and key pages are checked for a Lighthouse accessibility score of 100. The site is built to work at 400% zoom, with Windows High Contrast mode, with reduced motion settings, and with keyboard only. Every page has a skip link, landmarks and a visible focus indicator, and content is never hidden behind the sticky header when you tab or follow a link. We test with a screen reader before each major change. TODO: name the screen reader and browser combinations tested.
