By train

Rochford is on the Greater Anglia line from London Liverpool Street to Southend Victoria. Trains from London take roughly 50 minutes and run about every 20 minutes for most of the day. Check times on National Rail before you travel, particularly at weekends when engineering work is common.

The station has two platforms, and they are reached differently. This matters if you need to avoid steps.

Arriving from London (Southend-bound platform)

The platform is on the same side of the line as the venue. Leave the platform and the entrance is a short, step-free walk away. TODO: walking time, likely 2 to 3 minutes.

Arriving from Southend (London-bound platform)

The platform is on the far side of the line from the venue. You have two choices:

Leaving towards London

The same applies in reverse. If you need the step-free route, allow at least 10 minutes from the venue door to the London-bound platform, especially for the last train.

Google Maps and other apps do not show the step-free route

If you follow your phone from the London-bound platform it will send you over the footbridge. Use the diagram below instead.

Routes from Rochford station to the Freight HouseSchematic map with north at the top. The railway runs diagonally from the top left, towards London, to the bottom right, towards Southend. Rochford station is in the lower middle. Platform 1, for trains arriving from London, is on the north-east side of the line, the same side as the station car park and the Freight House; from it the entrance is a short step-free walk across the station car park, 2 to 3 minutes. Platform 2, for trains arriving from Southend and leaving for London, is on the south-west side. A footbridge with steps links the two platforms at their northern end. The step-free route from Platform 2 leaves by the ramp at the northern end of the platform, which slopes down to Hall Road, follows Hall Road north under the railway bridge to the junction with West Street, where there is a bus stop, turns right along West Street, then right again down Bradley Way past the station car park to the Freight House car park. The entrance is on the car park side of the building. Text description of the step-free route from the London-bound platform
  1. Leave Platform 2 by the ramp at the northern end, the end nearest the footbridge, and turn right onto Hall Road so that the railway is on your right.
  2. Follow Hall Road north for about 150 metres. It bends to the right and passes under the railway bridge.
  3. Just after the bridge, Hall Road meets West Street. Turn right along West Street. The bus stop is here.
  4. After about 130 metres, turn right into Bradley Way, the road running south beside the station car park. TODO: confirm the road name and signage.
  5. Follow Bradley Way past the station car park into the Freight House car park. The building is on your left and the entrance faces the car park.
