The organisations working together to bring the Freight House back into use.
East Essex Hackspace is a community workshop run by its members as a charitable incorporated organisation (registered charity 1190927). It currently operates from a space in Hawkwell and is bringing tools, equipment and open nights to the Freight House.
Members have access to metalworking, woodworking, 3D printing, electronics, laser cutting and a computer lab, with inductions on each area before use.

Rochford District Council owns the Freight House and the car park next to it. The building’s return to use forms part of the council’s Cultural and Visitor Economy Strategy 2025 to 2030.
